On the Bowery, 1971 A highlight on exhibit was the 1971 complete portfolio, On the Bowery of 10 silkscreens by historic artists who lived on the Bowery, including Cy Twombly, Robert Ryman, Will Insley, Robert Indiana, Les Levine, Charles Hinman, John Willenbecher, Richard Smith, Gerald Laing and John Giorno. The portfolio included 10 biographic sheets on each artist, photographed by Eliot Elisofon (1911-1973), a founding member of the Photo League in 1936.
