WESTWOOD GALLERY NYC is pleased to present the following artwork at booth A13, a curated selection of historic and contemporary paintings, prints, photography and mixed media.
The fine art available includes:
> a rare Fernand Léger gouache, ink from 1950. Created from Leger's inspiration from Arthur Rimbaud's 1886 poetry and resulted in Leger's limited edition lithographic portfolio entitled Les Illuminations, 1949
> a spectacular Franz Kline painting on masonite, 1949. This painting, painted in 1949, displays the complexity and richness associated with Franz Klines' mature abstractions at a pivotal moment in his career. "Untitled" was purchased by Sidney Singer, an art collector and philanthropist, from Elizabeth Kline, the artist's widow. Singer loaned the painting to the Guggenheim in 1978.
> Robert Rauschenberg, "Bodily" from the series Waterworks. The series of originals in Waterworks (1992-95) required a hands-on time-consuming process, borne from Rauschenberg's own digital photos transferred to clear gelatin surfaces and then to paper with an electric press using non-toxic, earth friendly materials. The luminescent quality of each original is intriguing and reminiscent of a watercolor painting.
> unique silkscreens by Andy Warhol (Sitting Bull, John Wayne, New York Post, all circa 1980s). Three unique works of art by Warhol, rare due to their original, one-of-a-kind qualities
> photographs of Andy Warhol from the 1950s by Douglas Kirkland and Bob Adelman
> Sam Francis, "Untitled," 1963. A typical example of the painter's contrast of white space and the power of focused color.
> iconic photographs of James Dean by Roy Schatt (currently on exhibit at the gallery until June 6, together with a selection of vintage photograph of The Actors Studio, 1950s)
> sculpted paintings by contemporary artist Bryan el Castillo, who explores deconstruction and reconstruction of portraits related to identity in a series of artworks constructed as bass reliefs from individual painted blocks of wood.
> starts and stripes sculpture by Elling Reitan
