TIM WHITE-SOBIESKI
ROUTE 17N: PHOTOGRAPHS

Route 17N, Tim White-Sobieski’s ongoing series of work, focuses on the complex nature of adolescence and the reluctant passage to adulthood. The staged photographs convey in lush colors the complex nature of personal evolution and the nebulous period between childhood and adult life. White-Sobieski examines visual, almost cinematic, representations of the clash between concrete reality and the allurement of fantasy, alongside symbolic and ritualistic depictions of isolation, fear, play, and contemplation. The abstract ideas of time and movement are evident as well, revealed with a heightened sense of light and dark.
